• Hemostasis or haemostasis (from the Ancient Greek: αἱμόστασις haimóstasis “styptic (drug)”) is a process which causes bleeding to stop, meaning to keep blood within a damaged blood vessel (the opposite of hemostasis is hemorrhage).
