Titratable Iodine: Iodine tincture is a solution of pure iodine in ethanol. (Iodine dissolves poorly in water). Ethanol is far more volatile than water, so crystallization by evaporisation out of tincture is relatively easy. Titratable iodine is a complex of iodine and potassium iodide.
