Uses
The Acer negundo is a member of the maple tree family. Various parts of the tree including the sap and inner bark are used for medicinal and edible purposes.
- The sugary sap creates syrup that is used as sweetener in food.
- The inner bark as a powder is used as a thickener in soups or added to flour. Sugar can also be obtained from the bark if boiled.
Benefits
The inner bark is emetic (vomit inducing) when made into a tea.
