Uses
The root of radishes are used as food and medicine to treat:
- disorders of the stomach, intestine, and bile duct
- loss of appetite
- inflammation of mouth and throat
- respiratory tract inflammation
- bronchitis
- fever
- colds
- cough
Benefits
Radishes are said to stimulate digestive juices and flow of bile. Radish root may also have anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties.
Cautions
Radishes are safe for most people, however in large quantities radishes may be irritating to the digestive tract.
Don’t use radishes if you have gallstones.
Pregnant and breast-feeding women should avoid using more than usual food amounts.
