Bupleurum root is used medicinally to treat conditions including the flu, cold, bronchitis, pneumonia, fever, cough, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, PMS, fatigue, headache, tinnitus, insomnia, depression, liver disorders, loss of appetite, cancer, malaria, chest pain, epilepsy, pain, asthma, and more.

Bupleurum root is said to stimulate the cells of the immune system to work harder.

Cautions

Pregnant and breast-feeding women, individuals with auto-immune diseases, bleeding disorders, diabetes, and individuals scheduled to undergo surgery should avoid use of bupleurum.

Interactions

 Bupleurum has said to have caused serious lung and breathing problems when combined with other examples such as Sho-saiko-to.
