Uses
- Calcium propionate is used as a preservative in a wide variety of products, including but not limited to: bread, other baked goods, processed meat, whey, and other dairy products. Calcium propionates is used in bakery products as a mold inhibitor.
Benefits
- Calcium propionate helps keep those baked goods fresh by preventing mold and bacterial growth that would cause them to go bad.
Cautions
- Calcium propionate, like all forms of propionic acids, is linked to migraine headaches.
