Precious coral or red coral is the common name given to Corallium rubrum and several related species of marine coral. The distinguishing characteristic of precious corals is their durable and intensely colored red or pink skeleton, which is used for making jewelry.

Benefits
According to Ayurvedic tradition, Praval Pishti, also known as Red Coral, possesses antacid, astringent, laxative, diuretic, nervine, tonic, emetic, antiphlegmonous, and antibilious properties, and is traditionally used to treat cough, asthma, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary tuberculosis, headache, low fever, vertigo, bilious headache, phthisis, urinary diseases, gleet, gonorrhea, spermatorrhea, carbuncles, and scrofulous affections. The dose is three to twelve grains twice daily after meals. It is also used as a tooth powder.
