Uses
Potassium stearate, one of many stearate salts, is used in the formulation of cosmetics and personal care products.
Benefits
Stearate salts are used for their lubricating properties, their ability to keep emulsions from separating into their oil and liquid components, their thickening properties, and their ability to reduce the clear or transparent appearance of finished products.
Cautions
Stearates have been found to be minimally irritating at high concentrations.
